Dewi Silk Batik is a group of artisans who work for Nyoman. He has sold Kimonos to a major Asian airline for gifts to their first class passengers, as well as tourists who wander into his little shop near the Artist colony of Ubud . . waiting for production from Dewi is a very hap-hazard preoccupation, because you cannot dye and then dry the silk unless the humidity is not quite so high, which, since Bali is 8 degrees South of the Equator, is an iffy proposition . .That plus each piece requires the consumate skills of people capable of hand sewing silk, making these pieces impossible to mass produce. As a result every piece we receive from him is whatever-whenever we get it, and each is a treasure to appreciate . . There are some other resellers of silk clothing, many many other producers of batik, but he is the only person we've yet found who does this quality of batik in silk.
