All of our policies are intended to make doing business with us easier. This policies page, along with the legal and privacy policy pages make up the entire service agreement between you and Balibooty.com. Please read it carefully, ordering from this site assumes you have read and accept them. Who we are


We are a former jewelry company exec. and a former gift shop manager who met at a gift show, discovered each was weary of the rigors of normal commerce, fell in love, and fell in love with the people and craft of Bali. The result was BaliBooty.com: where we present some of the most interesting, unusual, and/or highest quality of Balinese crafts we’ve found; and want to introduce you to some of the nicest families, who make them.

 
Our goals and philosophy


Our goal is to provide Balinese artisans an outlet while providing you with an opportunity to see and select from what they make. Because we speak the language, and buy from the families themselves, we can offer higher quality craft at prices that eliminate much of the cost of middlemen to you, while helping to insure they get paid a fair price for their life’s training and work.

We hope to avail them of a good living without demanding so much of their time that it takes away from what they have been for many generations, a peaceful people whose lives revolve around their cultural traditions, their art and work, their extended families and village associations.

 
Shipping and Freight


We usually ship every order the same day, or sometimes the next, but always within 2 days of receiving it, not including weekends or holidays.

We ship from Northwest Oregon, USA.

WHY SO MANY FREIGHT RATES??
We've struggled with this one . . mostly because some folks prefer the security of knowing they won't have to worry about whether their order will get there, and other folks prefer to trust in the Post Office and save the expense, and offering both free freight AND free insurance has just gotten too expensive . . . Even at $7.25, priority insured is a real deal from what we've seen elsewhere (even cheaper than Amazon) and we hope you will agree. The sad truth is that we have had some fraudulent claims of loss and to further protect you and us from the expense of dishonest people, this was the least expensive alternative
Standard shipping is USPS First class, which can take 7-15 days (orders over $17.50, this option is FREE), and costs $2.75, is uninsured and Balibooty.com will NOT be responsible if package is lost in transit.
Upgrade to US Priority Mail
, usually takes 2-3 days (orders over $150 this option is FREE) and costs $3.75 uninsured where Balibooty.com will NOT be responsible if package is lost in transit, or $7.25 insured (assuming address is entered correctly) where Balibooty.com WILL be responsible if package is lost in transit
Upgrade to USPS Express Mail
usually takes 1-2 days, and costs $17.50, uninsured, or $19.50 insured

Balibooty.com can only be responsible for loss in transit if you choose to ship PRIORITY INSURED (signature not required) or EXPRESS INSURED (signature required to sign for delivery)and where the delivery address has been entered correctly by customer.

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that USPS will perform as quickly as they promise, especially during the holidays, when their performance often seems to slip. To find out freight costs without having to put in all your personal information, add the item to basket and click on "estimate freight".

ORDERS UNDER $18.00 There is a fee of $2.50 for packaging. Packaging is free on orders of $18 or more within the USA, and freight is free on orders of more than $17.50 to within the US, to any one address. We will always email you with a tracking number, if there is one, when we ship. If you don't receive an email, ask us!!!

To ship to multiple addresses, first add all ship to addresses to your account, by clicking on "my account" link at the top of every page, then click "my account settings", then click the grey "add a new shipping address" button. Add every shipping address you might want to use, and then when you go to checkout, or continue shopping, every time you want to add an item to basket, you will see a drop down menu which lets you choose which item goes to what address

We will notify you if we are short on stock or out of stock on any item before we ship, and ask you if you want to change the order.

We will pay for all freight on shipping items you were short shipped, or out of stock, or damaged, or if we shipped you items you didn't order. We cannot refund freight or insurance for items ordered, but not wanted. Items returned because not wanted and originally shipped freight free will be charged the following freight rates: $3.75 if shipped Domestic 1st class, $7.25 if shipped Domestic Priority, $35 if shipped international.

We ship all orders and back orders via US POST.

We do not yet ship to post office boxes, unless the billing address of the credit card is the same po box.

COUNTRIES OUTSIDE THE USA: We ship to Australia($11 USD), Canada($5 USD), Ireland($9 USD), Nethelands($15 USD)and the UK($9 USD) with First Class US Mail (this option is FREE on orders over $175 USD). Unfortunately we cannot guarantee delivery for these prices, because insured shipping has gotten so expensive for international shipments that we no longer offer it. We can't ship to all other countries unless we quote you the freight first. If the freight cost is acceptable to you, we will process the order from our offices. Please do not email your charge card number to us, your security is important to us, so we will be happy to call you for the number. Our shipping charges do not include any customs duties or fees. We seem unable to keep up with if and when and how much other governments charge for importing, so we have to leave that between your government and you. We are required by US law to declare the actual price for any item shipped outside the US. How much does it weigh??? How big is it???


We have made the transition to metric weight and size throughout the Balibooty site. To help translate these weights back into ounces and pounds, one pound is 454 grams, and one ounce is 28.5 grams.

If something weighs 30 grams it only weighs a bit over an ounce . . .

One inch is about 25 millimeters . .

We usually add a bit of weight to each item's description to include some packaging to more accurately predict freight cost to you.

 
Guarantees, and returns


All of our product is handmade and therefore subject to slight variations from weight size and shape. If any of your order is unsatisfactory please return it within 30 days for exchange or refund. If your order is not received within 30 days from the date of sale, we may impose at least a 20% restock fee, and all freight, gift wrapping, and insurance charges, if relevant.

In addition, our workmanship guarantee extends to damage that is the result of a manufacturing defect, NOT the result of misuse or abuse. Please send it back in a box, not a padded envelope, to protect it from the rigors of shipping. We cannot refund for damage caused by inadequate return shipping.

If your product fails within the guarantee period, please do not attempt to repair it yourself, or have it repaired, without prior approval from us. Balibooty.com will not be responsible for repairs made by you, or others, without prior approval from us; such unauthorized repairs will void your guarantee from Balibooty.com.

Please send returns with a copy of the invoice to: PO Box 572, Hillsboro, OR 97123. Please mark the box "RETURNS" If you don't have the invoice, please call us (1 877 504 5968 9-5 M-F Pacific time) so we can figure out how to contact you and give you credit. Please include a little note letting us know what is going on.

We will refund in the same manner as your order was paid for, and will always credit you the same price you paid when you ordered, subject to the conditions mentioned above, and the following: In the event we sent you damaged items or items you did not order, we will credit you for freight to send back the miscreant items, and ship out the correct items freight free. We cannot refund freight or insurance for items ordered, but not wanted. Items returned because not wanted and originally shipped freight free will be charged the following freight rates: $3.75 if shipped Domestic 1st class, $7.25 if shipped Domestic Priority, $35 if shipped international.

We will endeavor to credit your credit card, or send you cash or check, within 10 days of receiving your returns, not including weekends or holidays.

We work very hard with our families to educate them as to Western expectations about consistency and quality, yet disasters can and do happen, but that is part of our cost of doing business, and the families who make our products never get charged for your returns. Some of these "disasters" are included in our "miscellaneous items" page, and offered at reduced price. We will tell you in the description of the item what went wrong.

All of our products have guarantees of quality and consistency, subject to the 30-day satisfaction guarantee, but some items have guarantees much longer than that. Please refer to the web page where your product was listed for sale, as well as the paper work you received with your order for more details.

Please note: We believe in doing business with honesty and integrity and we strive very hard to do so. We depend on our customers to do the same. Any deliberate customer misrepresentation to Balibooty.com relating to delivery, condition of your order, etc. voids any and all Balibooty.com guarantees, or warranties.

 
Backorders


We will back order an item or items from your order, if you authorize us to. We will ship the back order US post, and at the same price as the original order. If you order and we are short or out of stock, we will pay the freight on the back order. If you need the backordered items more quickly you will have to pay the additional cost of freight.

 
Orders


Orders are usually shipped faster if received via the website because we don't have to do the order entry, but we are here to help you whenever and why ever you might need us. We always will email you when we receive the order. If you don't receive an email, ask us!!!! We have no minimum order. All orders less than $18 will be charged a packaging and insurance fee of $2.50. Many items are shipped free freight, please look at the product ordering page for each item to see which qualify for free freight. Logging in to Balibooty.com


You may choose to log into Balibooty.com or not, if you do, you will be able to see your order history: what you ordered, how much you paid, when it was shipped, etc. Nice if you are trying to "get another one" for a relative or friend, or to see the status of your guarantee, or to print another receipt.

However, even without logging in, you may order and we will ship. That is your privilege and information, not ours.

It is our basic policy that your information is yours, not ours, and that all confusion in that matter ought to fall on the side of protecting your personal information from unauthorized use by us or anyone else. Wholesale accounts and Wedding pricing


We have found that our wholesale pricing is very, very competitive, even given the fact that we pay our families as much as we do. We can only assume that is a function of eliminating most additional middlemen, and that we take less margin when we know we will be paid promptly. If you own, or buy for a store, and want to offer some of our unique items, you need to demonstrate that you can pay on time, can order in wholesale quantity, and are nice people to deal with. Prices


Some of our pricing varies from moment to moment based on the cost of silver and gold and the exchange rate between US Dollars and Rupiah. These can vary quite rapidly, as the economy in Indonesia is fairly unstable. We will always charge you the same price you paid when you ordered.

 
Payment and secure ordering from Balibooty


Balibooty.com takes most major credit cards and debit cards and checks and cash. We are not yet able to ship COD. We usually ship within 2 days of when charges for your order clear with the credit card company, usually less than 10 minutes, or as soon as checks clear the bank, usually WITHIN 10 working days or so.

We will not charge your credit card until the day we ship your order. We will endeavor to credit your credit card or send a return check or cash within 10 days of receiving your returns, not including weekends or holidays. We use SSL encryption and use 128 bit encryption by GeoTrust, to assure you of a safe shopping experience. If there is any problem with your credit card or check, we will notify you by email as soon as we know what the problem is, and give you an opportunity to arrange other payment.

Sorry we cannot take Pay Pal, it appears vulnerable to mis-use for us and for you, including Pay Pal's recent settlement of a lawsuit providing over $9 million in restitution, to read more, click here.

If your transaction was declined because your billing address did not match the billing address of cardholder, please do not attempt to resubmit your request until you call the credit card company phone number on the back of your card. Find out exactly how THEY have your billing address listed, and enter THAT address onto the billing address part of our form. Repeatedly submitting the wrong address will send more funds authorization requests to your bank.

You may then see pending charges on your account even when your order was declined by your bank. When you place an order on our website, it is first sent to your bank for verification of the billing address entered, and for availability of funds. As a matter of your banks policy, your bank holds the funds for that transaction, EVEN if the order is declined for address problems. We did NOT charge your card, nor have we been paid for your declined transactions. Most banks will drop holds off automatically in two to three business days, but some banks, such as credit unions, can take longer. If we can help you with your bank, we are happy to call them to try to help you convince them that since your card was declined we didn't get any money, and sometimes they will relent and drop the authorizations sooner. Legal and privacy policies and service agreement


Please review our legal and privacy policy pages, they affect your rights and responsibilities when ordering from this site. By ordering from this site, you agree to comply with all provisions of the privacy and legal policy pages, you also agree that you have read and accept all of the policies listed on this page, and that these pages make up the entirety of the service agreement. By ordering from this site, you agree that you will conform to all applicable laws of the United States and Oregon. Should a lawsuit be required to collect on any money owed as a result of ordering from this site, you agree that the prevailing party in any such suit be entitled to reasonable attorney fees and collection fees, and that the proper place for that lawsuit shall be in Washington County, Oregon.

 
Watch movements and batteries


Our watches use a Japanese Miyota 2035 quartz analog movement set into a water proof metal case. In addition, the wrist watch cases are solid stainless steel. We have left these cases in a bowl of water for weeks without losing any movements. The Miyota 2035 is more durable, more precise, and worthy of our 5 year guarantee, as opposed to plastic, Chinese made movements, that are usually offered by manufacturers who sell based on lowest cost alone, rather than quality. Our watches are allergy safe, see below.

Our watches use a silver oxide SR626sw battery(commonly known as a 377). It has a shelf life of 5-10 years unused and will run your watch for at least 1-2 years and probably more. They are available in drugstores everywhere. . .you can certainly change them yourself by lifting the back cover off the watch movement and removing the silver colored disc . .or many drugstores, camera shops, and jewelers will change them for you for a nominal fee . . these batteries are very inexpensive, and are the industry standard for durability in this use.

 
Showering with our watches and pendants


Our watches and watch pendants are designed to survive a heavy rain shower, or washing dishes, etc. They would probably survive, but are not guaranteed to survive, showering with them. Our watches are allergy safe, see below.

The soap scum and flakes of skin that come off in the shower are a definite health hazard, if allowed to build up in the crevasses of any watch . . .they are a perfect breeding ground for all of the many bacteria, and viruses that daily make their home on even the cleanest person's skin . . .while Balibooty.com lauds cleanliness, and the determination to find a quality product, we urge our customers to reconsider the practice of showering with any jewelry, ours or anyone else's.

 
Are Balibooty watches Hypo allergenic


Our watches and watch pendants are made with solid sterling silver watchbands, and pendant cases. While there are a very few people who's skin chemistry will cause real sterling silver to turn black, or sometimes even leave greenish marks and black marks on the skin, it is rare, and usually caused by unscrupulous vendors who use low silver content, and not sterling silver. All of our watch bands use solid stainless steel watch heads for durability and safety, for those who are allergic to nickel. Our Watch pendants use steel heads which are entirely surrounded by sterling and so have no issues with nickel allergy.
